Pabnites are working in the countries of Asia-Pacific
region,Europe,US & ME.Money transaction is easy and almost free
of beurocratic procedures. Many banks have opened their
foreign currency section.Always carry your passport with you while
you exchange your currency.Remember,you can change US$ 5000:- at a
time/day.There is no Automatic bank or minibank or ATM yet in
Pabna.Thus VISA,Master-card is not yet acceptable in Pabna but soon
such cards can be used in butiks and shopping malls.
Western Union's Money Transfer facility is
available at the National Bank Ltd.Pabna branch.Please note that

Water,Food:For a foreign tourist, who has not visited and stayed
in Bangladesh in the recent years, the following things are
recommended:
Utmost precautions against drinking
water,softdrinks,icecreams,juices.
Arsenic contamination has
become a menace in several parts of this district,but not in and
vicinity of the town.
Please always make an
electro-chemical test of the water
You are going to drink in a
new place.
Purified Bottled water is sold in medicine stores can
be used for drinking.
Price:about 50 cents for 2 litres.
Fresh fruits like orange,apple,banana,mango,water
melon,papaya grapes,dates are sold in plenty throughout the
year.Coconut water is recommended for drinking.
All types of tinned or
preserved foods must be checked with Bar-codes,mfgdates and expiary
dates.
Fuel Stations :About
five Fuel stations are situtaed in the town and they are at of the
main road.Diesel,Gasoline and Octane are sold. All sorts of fuel are
supplid from Baghabari river port Oil-depot.
Mobil,lubeoil,automobile spareparts are available.A good number of
car sevicing centers furnished with skilled technicians are situated
beside the main road. One Compressed Natural Gas(CNG)
refuelling station and conversion unit,on the approach road to
Lalan Shah Bridge,will come in service very soon.

on just prayer time(between 12pm-3pm) on Friday.Open even on

film availability:Color and B&W photo films(for 35mm
camera,which is commonly used) are available in all small and large

Fuji & Konica have their own color photo
processing lab in the town. It takes around one hour for film
development and several hours for printing.
Rent-a-car Service:24 hours service available.In
front of Annada Plaza,near the city centre.
Rickshaw is the most environment friendly and cheapest
transport medium for upto 10-12 km tour.The cost of hiring a
rickshaw is about BDT20/hour.
Vaccinations:All the western tourists are
reccomended to have prophylaxis against Hepatitis,Malaria,Cholera
before they come to Pabna.Please follow the recommendations of WHO
or Health Services of Bangladesh Government.
Mosques:Almost every locality has its own mosque.The
Oldest Mosque at
Bharara(about15 km SE of the town)is recommended for Friday
prayer.If the weather is good,just take a rickshaw(fair about 1USD)
and visit the mosque.It's well maintained and managed.
