Pahela Boishakh 1409 Pathfinder Computer Rally
 
 The Bangla new year 1409 was marked by diverse programmes-
colorful rallies, music evening,recitation,drawing competition for the children, seminars and of course melas(Bangla word for exhibition) in different parts of Pabna.
 
Spontaneous participation by the people of all sects of the society has brought the clear message-pahela boishakh(14th April) is indeed a part of bangalee identity.

Here in the above picture, the local Computer and printing company, Pathfinder Ltd.arranged a weeklong computer exhibition which was preceded by a grand rally.

Jarul flowers(Lagerstroemia speciosa)

The Bangla months of Boishakh and Joishtha which
comprise summer(Grishsha in Bangla), 
are popularly known 
for fruits like mango, water melon, jackfruit,berry,litchies.
But  diverse flowers have enriched this season to the full.Jarul(Lagerstroemia speciosa),
Krishnochura(Delonix regia),
Kamini (Muraya exotica),
Rakta Kanchon(Bahuinia variegata) and many more.

And this year the Jarul trees behind Pabna Station Club are garneted with violet flowers. Here we take the pleasure to present the picture for our esteemed readers.

 

 
For the farmers, it is busy time before monsoon.Aus rice,IRRI,jute,maize,vegetables,bringels,banana etc. are in the field.Watermelons are in abundance this year while for mango this is an "off season". However large amount of fruits from different places like Paksey,Tebunia,Chatmohar,Bhangura,Ataikula,Bera are transported and sold in Dhaka. a farmer spraying pesticide at rice field

 *More area will soon come under the mobile telephone network as Grameen phone installed base station in Shahjadpur.This means Bera,Kashinathpur,Santhia region will be benefitted.Meanwhile for better performance, another repeater station is installed in the Pabna town opposite to the telephonebuilding.And telephone kiosks named Polli Phone are seen operating  in remote localities which are out of reach of land bases telephony. From these telephone centers grameen GSM facilities are provided.

*Prior to World Cup Football, the local football fans have already chosen their favorite countries. At every Locality-in towns as well as in countrysides,football fans have hoisted flag of their respective favorite countries. And Latin American countries are leading in terms of popularity.

*The traffic stand at Pabna Zero is completed recently. With the structure of Shapla flower(water lily) petals, renders an eye soothing view.

 
Two great rivers and their tributaries are flowing beside and through Pabna district. On summer hot days when day temperature is above 30 degree Celsius, it is a good idea to take bath in river.

*In April and May people in Paksey,Ishurdi and Pabna town had the opportunity to enjoy some popular films film festivals arranged by local film clubs.
*Zilla Shilpakala Academy arranged a  2 week long cultural competition which ended on the 17th May.

*On the 8th May the 144th birth anniversary of poet laureate Rabindranath Tagore was celebrated in Pabna Annada Gobinda Public Library,Shelidaha Kuthibari.Every year folk 

 


D>>Changing faces of Bangladesh

 

In the recent years, stress has been given on female education. Both government and non-governmental initiatives have boosted the participation of females in education and other socio-cultural activities. Officially the education is free upto college level, that is intermediate level.

Here in the picture, the students of Char Koshakhali High School, are seen on their way home at 3pm on 1st April,2002.The road is connecting Shelidaha ghat and Banglabazar.

Poultry can be a  source of income-main as well as  alternate, for people of all sects of the society.

Here in the picture a small poultry along with its owner is seen in Mondolpara ,Pabna municipality.

The Padma Road Bridge construction is going on in full speed. The entire country will come under direct road network after the bridge is completed.

Obituary Notes:

*
Sree Abinash Chandra Ghosh(80),the proprietor of Shyamoli Paribahan passed away on the 6th May 2002 at Dhaka Sohrwardy Hospital.

*Poet Anzuman Ara Baby,renowned pabnite,educationist,musician and an active member in cultural circle of Pabna passed away on the 8th April,2002.She was the founder of Anzuman Sangeet Academy at Poilanpur.
