A>>Introductory words

The late autumn(Hemanta in bangla) has gone almost unnoticed.The last weeks of October was rather cloudy and rainy due to the sudden depression in the bay.However on the 2nd. November the bright sunny day with 25 degree temperature,was a good indication of coming winter.And thye vegetable market is now filled with green winter vegetables.

In the second week of this month,starts the holy Ramjan,which will be later followed by the largest festival of the Muslims-Eid.But people are annoyed with the present global crisis,which may cause depression in our small economy.

B>>Domestic,commercial and industrial gas supply connection soon

Pabnites and the Ishurdians are requested for applying for natural gas supply connection in the municipal areas.The Western region Gas Company Limited has slected Tanmoy Traders for the pipeline network installation in Pabna and Ishurdi.

In Pabna the agent office is opposite to Bani Cinema Hall,mobile no.017-390361
And in Ishurdi the office is opposite to the Fire station,mobile no.017-849951

It can be mentioned here, that natural gas has been sold in cylinder for domestic purpose since the late '80s.

*The low water level in Padma,near Pakshey Ferry ghat has hampered ferry transport. This has caused traffic chaos there as the 3 functional ferries cannot be operated in full load.

*A little magazine named "Aajker Projonma" was published by the Hei day photo ageny.
Professor Monwar Hossain Zahedi,Editor Matin Khan,Robiul Islam Robi,Khaled Hossain Parag attended the inaugaration ceremony.19th Oct.

D>>Ongoing and coming events

* The Edward University College Student's Union will have it's 2001-2002 year's election on the 13th November,2001.

* The first death anniversary of MP Rafiqul Islam Bakul will be celebrated solemnly with due respect and honor.The outdoor swimming pool of Pabna stadium complex has been named Bir Muktijoddah Rafiqul Islam Bakul swimming pool.A football tournament is presently held at the stadium.

* On the 19th October, 63rd birthday of the famous Pabna born poet,writer,journalist and educationist Prof.Omar Ali was celebrated at the poet's residence opposite to Bulbul College.the elites,students,social and cultural personalities of the town attended the colorful ceremony.

* The Engineers Institute,Pabna sub center has inaugurated its own club-Engineer's Club on the 17th October.It is situated at the Water Board premise at Chatiani.

E>>Foreign diplomats attend Durga Puja at Pabna

Shahata Zarab,Honorable Dean of the diplomatic corps at Dhaka
and the Palestinian representative in Bangladesh and the Royal Danish embassy official Jenny Kost visited the Durga Puja mondop at Joy Kali temple on the 25th Oct.2001.Later on they flew to Natore.The new BNP government arranged this visit.

The Hindu community in Pabna observed their annual festival Durga Puja apparently peacefully,this year.

Obituary Notes:

Engr.Alhaj Khondokar Abdur Rashid (70) passed away at his Dilalpur residence on the 30th October.He was a retired staff of Public Works Department,Pabna.As an active member of The Daily Prothom Alo Bandhu Shabha,he contributed much in organizing the civil society.

Mr.Hasinur Rahman(67),a renowned Pabnite passed away on the 27th October at his Radhangar residence.Mr.Rahman was the vice president of Community Clinic at Radhanagar.
