Soon it's monsoon again. The Bangla month of Ashar will begin on the 15th June. The average rainfall in the last weeks is more than sufficient so far. And water flow in the Padma(Ganges) and her tributaries have increased remarkably already, may be an indication of flood this year.

And the bridge at Banglabazar is complete. Here on the right we are showing an archived photo taken in the last year,2000.If you just take a rickshaw trip from here to the Padma ghat, which will take merely 15 minutes through the  well built road through the vast lush green landscape. Moreover a boat trip on this great river in calm weather will be a rare experience.

Litchu(Litchi chinensis) of good quality is now  growing in abundance in  Pabna region. By adopting new techniques and care, the famous Bombay Litchis are no longer out  of reach in question of price.

Here in the picture you see a farmer and a retired Headmaster Mr.Abubakar Siddique,a fruit grower in Kathalbaria,Ishurdi, with his year 2001's litchis.Mr.Siddique invested BDT 30 thousand and till now has sold litchis worth BDT 1.5 lac.

And mango and other fruits like black berry, water melon, indigenous date and green palm(Taal shash)(Borassus flabillifer)are among the list of fruits of this time.

However, one agri-product,cereal, is becoming quite popular and probably a part of our food-habit. And that is maize(vhutta or mokai in Bangla).Originally from Latin Amerika, now you will see maize fields very common in this region and in the other part of this country too).
