Introductory words
Fresh and green everywhere and the nature is garneted  to welcome a new year. The Bangla new year of 1408 is celebrated  with festivity in this region. On the morning of 14th April, the main celebration started at the Banamali Complex. Unfortunately the sorrowful incident at Ramna,Dhaka turned the cheerful event to great dismay and all programme were postponed in order to honor the souls of the expired victims at Ramna and again started on the 15th morning.
However, this year a good number of Baishakhimelas are taking place at different parts of this district-Shahapur Mela and Mathurapur Mela and in Chatmohar,Debottar Mela in Atghoria,Charak Puja at Gopalnagar in  Faridpur Thana,Gaznar Biler Mela can be mentioned. These melas are three days to one month long and represent the cultural festivity of Bangali folk.(*mela is a Bangla word meaning country fair).

And at the same time our Pabna Cyber Chronicle is celebrating her one year in publication on the net. We thank our readers for their kind cooperation.

On our 30th anniversary of the Independence day(26th March), we are presenting here from our new collection of the Nepalese stamp with our beloved red-green flag representing Bangladesh as one of the SARC states). Other SAARC member countries have also published stamps with same motif and we will be showing them in future.

Here you will find  more about the history of the flag of Bangladesh.

The red-green flag of Bangladesh appears in the stamp of India(1973) and Nepal(1985)

Mango production assumed to be less this year

On account of  minimum rain in the late winter and spring, and attacking insects, massive mango  buds have already perished this year and the production  supposed to  be far less than expected. But for peasants, there is  reason to be glad in this season-good harvest of wheat,boro-rice,onion,chili and vegetables. The abundance of these items unfortunately pressing the price reduction.

The seasons and year 2001's first norwester was experienced on the 22nd March late afternoon at around 5pm.A shower of rain was followed, making the air dust free. Also it contributed to reduce the temperature and mosquitoes which is irritating specially for the SSC examination candidates.
