Introductory words

It is autumn in the air.
Evening and early morning horizon is pervaded with fog clinging just over the ground.
And morning grass is covered with crystalclear dews.And the crops field are covered with green Aman crops However diverse eye-catching flowers like Blue and white Parul(Sterospermum suaveolesns DC)*,
Deep blue and white Aparazita (Clitoria ternatea)and thick deep fragrance of Chatim(Alstonia scholaris,in english Davil's tree!)probablyenchanted our Poet Laureate very much so that he was inspired
to write poems and songs about autumn.

While Countryside markets are now filled with pre-winter fruits and vegetables like Katbel(Feronia limonia (L),in English Elephant apple as it is very favorite food for elephant),Tetul(tamarindus indica),Amloki(Cicca acida), Kamranga(Averrhoa karambola).All these friuts have one thing in common-soury,they are citrous friuts). However sweet Papeya and Tal(palm, Borassus flabellifer) neutralises them with their distinctive taste and smell.

*We are not sure about the exact identity of this specis.
It may be Champa(not Chaapa)

Durga Puja observed at Pabna
2-8th October

With usual vigour and enthusiasm the Durga Puja was celebrated by the Hindu community here in the Pabna region. In 9 thanas of Pabna district 198 Puja mandaps were arranged. The fare well of godess Durga in Pabna took place in the Ichamati.

The Home and Telecom minister Mr.Nasim,opposition MP Mr.Bakul joined the Bijaya Dashomi.
According to our correspondent Mr.Alam the Joy Kalibari Puja Mandap was the largest and populous (as usual) and Dash Para(near Hemayet Pur) Mandap,though small but was artfully decorated.
Fare well to year 2000 Godess Durga

In the eve of conclusion (on Bijaya Dashomi) a mela (fair) took place near the traffic point.

Mini Biswa Eztema at Chatmohar
5th October
On the 5th October started a three days long Mini Biswa Eztema at the Degree College ground.
The Akhheri Munazat(Solemn Prayer) took place on the 7th October.Bersides thousands of muslims from allover the country
a good number of participants were from India and Pakistanattended this congregation.
Biswa Tablig Zamat arranged this Eztema.

Country Fair at Char Dhubulia
9th October
On the 9th October started a 9 days long country fair at Char Dhubulia(near the Shitlai Estate House).Among the diverse attractions,Jatra(countryside drama),Circus etc. can be mentioned.

Deputy Commissioner of Pabna District got his fare well

4th October
The fare well ceremony of the deputy commissionar of Pabna District,Mr.Mahbubur Rahman
was held at different parts of this district.

	Mr.Rahman was a popular administrator for the transparent administration and one of the architects of the Durjoy Pabna monument (left picture)and initiator of Prodipta Pabna,a government backed total literacy programme for Pabna district.

A sudden daylong Transport Strike was called on the Thursday,12th October

12th October
Buses to and from Pabna were stopped due to a strike that resulted from a very trifling matter caused the
homebound working people to spoil one day from their weekly holiday.

Sports News:
1-14th October
The Division 3 Football Tournament has caught the attention of the Pabnites. Peoples interest in football has become less in recent years due to one after another defeat of our national football teams in International matches.Nevertheless to say ,young footballers are doing well.Keeping this in mind the footballers in Pabna have made a round the town rally to create enthusiasm in football on the 12th October.

In the Division 3 Football Tournament Sadhupara
Agrani Shilpi Sangha has achieved the highest point(16) and Ranju Memorial(7) the second position.

Other Sports Events in short:
A Rowing competition took place at Bera at the ichamoti river.
On the 1st October started Municipal football Tournament at Bera Shahid A Khalek Stadium. Teams from allover Bangladeshare participating there.

Munir Memoria Silver Cup football Tournament at Arifpur Eidgah field in Pabna.

Journalist Akhter Jahan Memorial Cricket Tournament(start20th Oct.)
Venue:Pabna Stadium or Sadhupara School Field.

Holy Shab-e-meraz will be celebrated on the 25th October.

Obituary:
Educationist Mr. Mafiz Uddin,the Principal and Headmaster of the Atghoria College and High School respectively passed away on the 8th October,about 2:30 pm .It can be mentioned that Mr. Mafiz Uddin established the Atghoria College and High School.
