Jor Bangla Temple

 

Situated about 2km east of the town this temple is one of the major archeological attractions of Pabna district. An excellent Hindu Temple, built in 18th century. Its architecture reminds the traditional village huts. But before the construction was completed something sac-religious occured on the site and therefore the temple was never used.

Hardinge Bridge( 4th Feb., 1915, A masterwork of the British Raj,after the name of Lord Harding, viceroy of India). It is the largest broad-gauge railway bridge in Bangladesh, situated on the Padma(Ganges),enabling communication between Northern & Southern Bangladesh. It consists of 15 Spans and Five thousand eight hundred feet(5,800 feet) long

Shitlai Kuthibari or Estatehouse(4km SE of the town)

Bangladesh Sugercane research Institute,Ishurdi

North Bengal Paper Mills,Pakshi

Arifpur Graveyard(6km SE of the town):A very well maintained Islamic and Christian graveyard:A symbol for communal unity.

 

 

Interesting elements about Pabna,Chalanbil(Marshyland) of archeological and historical value,can be found in the Varendra Research Museum in Rajshahi, divisional Town about 80km NW of Pabna.In 1916, a benovalent Feudal Lord named Raja Pramadnath Ray establiseds this museum building.
