Bangla is the 6th largest spoken language of the world. It is the official language of Bangladesh. This language offshoots directly from Sanskrit, stem of the Indo-European language.

Bangla is widely spoken in eastern part of India, The Andamans island, Pakistan,Singapore, UK and Canada. A very dynamic language. First non-European to receive Nobel prize in literature was Rabindranath Tagore in 1913, was a Bangali poet.

The UN approved 21st February from the year 2000 to celebrate  as International Motherlanguage Day.nevertheless to mention initiative to commemorate this day goes back to 21st February 1952 then many Bangalis were killed by the brutal police forces of the Pakistan govenment while defying them heroically.

The most prominent language martyrs are Rafique,Salam,Barkat, and Jobbar.Pakistan Government tried by all means to establish Urdu as the state language of entire Pakistan although majority  Banglaspeaking of the population was from East Pakistan.
