Durjoy Pabna

 

The recently built monument

 
Durjoy  Pabna symbolizes the resistance given by the local people during the War of Liberation in 1971.Durjoy is a bangla word,meaning invincible.

This monument was selected among 27 models by a selection committee comprising Elected MPs,Politicians,Freedom Fighters,Intellectuals,Journalists and Gov.Officials.On the 26th March 1998,this body unanimously selected the above model designed by Mr.Nizam Uddin Khan,Deputy Chief Architect of the Sugarcane Research Institute,Ishurdi,Pabna.The approximate cost was USD 14500.On the 16th Dec.1998 this monument was inaugarated after completion..

Durjoy Pabna is situated opposite to the Pabna District Board & Municipality Building and infront of the Deputy Commissionar's officce.The newly renovated Shahid Minar is on the north-east side of Durjoy Pabna.And the Children's Park is behind this monument.
