Hepatitis-B vaccination
programme launched
A newly established health ,service health centre titled Dristy
launched Hepatitis B vaccination programe in the town on July 18 in
memory of the late Farhana Islam Dristy, an eminent shooter and a
student of Pabna Government High School.
The main objective of the health centre is to create awareness among
the common people against jaundice and Hepatitis B virus and to
vaccinate people at a nominal cost in support of Glaxo Smith Kline.
A simple function was held in this connection. President of Pabna
Diabetic Samity, Lion Baby Islam presided over the vaccination
programme while Residential Advisor of Square Pharmaceutical
Company Limited, Md. Dabiruddin Ahmed was chief guest.The function was addressed, among others, by Rezaul Karim Reza,
general manager of Universal Pharmaceutical, Dewan Saidur Rahman,
area manager of Glaxo Smith Kline, Dr. Mostafa Kamal Selim, general
secretary of BMA, Pabna district unit, Dr. Tahsin. Aziz, Dr. Masudur
Rahman, Dr. Masud Biswas, Khandakar Shamsul Haque, secretary of
Pabna Rifle Club, Raziur Rahman Rumi, president of Pabna Rotary
Club, Advocate Shafiqur Rahman, Public Prosecutor, and Hasibul Hasan
Habul, president of Pabna Cable Operators Association.
Ali Ahsan Boktar delivered the address of welcome while Sarwar Khan
Milon conducted the function.
On the occasion, a total of 98 children and 59 adults in different
areas of the district were vaccinated against the Hepatitis B virus.
It is to be mentioned here that Farhana Islam Dristy was the
inhabitant of Gopalpur area in the district. She died at Dhaka after
suffering from Hepatitis B virus.
